Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon near the Duke's Beach Stand
Daily, 11:00am
The colorful history of Duke Kahanamoku, Hawaii's most decorated waterman and the
father of modern-day surfing, comes alive in "Surfing 101." Presented by Waikiki
Beach Activities* at the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon, this 30-minute "talk story" session
includes an historical overview of Duke Kahanamoku by expert Hawaiian waterman Ka'ai
Bruhn, winner of the Molokai Hoe (Molokai-to-Oahu canoe race). The Surfing 101
session wraps up with a brief demonstration of surfing techniques by one of two
renowned watermen, Clyde Aikau or Errol Kane. Aikau is a famous big-wave surfer
and winner of the Duke Kahanamoku Surfing Championship, and Kane is a popular
local surf instructor. The complimentary sessions are exclusively for hotel guests
and may be the best 30 minutes spent in Hawaii!

- Atlantis Submarines
*
Enjoy one of Oahu's premier attractions, an undersea adventure aboard a high-tech
submarine, conveniently located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Atlantis Submarines
allow you to explore artificial reefs, teeming with fish, along with the wreckage of
sunken ships and an old passenger plane that was submerged for the fun of exploration.
A shuttle boat takes passengers on a ten minute scenic cruise from the Port Hilton Dock
out to sea to the Atlantis Submarine dive site. There they board a real passenger
submarine and dive 120 feet below the ocean's surface into the habitat of countless
exotic sea creatures mingling among the Atlantis reef, while a knowledgeable guide
provides interesting information about the marine environment.
Tour Schedule
Tours depart daily every hour between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (on the hour) from the Port
Hilton Dock at Hilton Hawaiian Village. Children must be 36 inches tall to ride the
submarine. (Schedule subject to change.)
